Downtown Presbyterian Church Statement Regarding COVID-19
March 25, 2020
Dear All,
Our congregation is holding you in God's healing light and love day by day as together we find our way through this unprecedented global health challenge.
In response to guidance from New York State and from Monroe County, public access to the building has been restricted. We hear the Spirit calling us to love and protect one another through the wisdom of social distancing, and at the same time, to expand our ministry in new ways.
Accordingly, Downtown Church has suspended in-person worship for the duration of the health crisis in New York State. On Sunday, March 15, we began to create worship services for audio broadcast, including marvelous music, via the "Listen to Worship" feature at the top of this website. You are invited! Just click and play.
In addition, we have launched the DPC Phone Ministry, with callers reaching out to members and friends of our spiritual community--touching base, deepening connections, and magnifying the presence of God's love at work among us and in our wider communities.
We are also connecting with our sisters and brothers in the greater Rochester community through donations and volunteer support to the South Wedge Food Program at ROC/SALT, a mission of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley. The South Wedge Food Program, located in the former Calvary St. Andrews Presbyterian Church building, serves people in every zip code and keeps us all up to date at www.rocsaltcenter.org/southwedgefoodprogram/
With you in faith, hope, and love,
Your Neighbors at Downtown Presbyterian Church
