Downtown Church women gather at 7PM on the 2nd Sunday evening of the month, known as Womanspace. Topics for spiritual discussion are explored in a confidential setting, including individual check-ins, sharing prayerful moments, poetry or scripture. Conversations range from delving more deeply into a recent sermon, talking about societal transformation, or discussing events in each other's lives. All women, members and friends are invited.
Men’s Group: Guys’ Morning Out
Downtown Church men gather at a local restaurant for breakfast the first Saturday of every month. Good food, good talk, and deepening friendships are the menu items. All men, both members and friends, are invited to this popular gathering.
Psalms & Scripture:
Each Tuesday morning at 10 AM this group gathers to read scripture from various versions of the Bible. They are currently reading the Book of Psalms. Scripture is read from NIV, RSV, King James, the Message, & Nan C. Merrill’s Psalms for Praying, along with study bible translations.
Roundtable Book Group: Fiction & Non-Fiction
Reading books that are currently on the top-seller list, or classic literature, the Downtown Church book group meets the 3rd Friday of each month at Noon, in the church library at the “round table.” Members and friends are welcome and share monthly suggestions to read.
Inter-Generational Gatherings: A Fun Night (or Day) “Out”
Once a month the Congregational & Community Engagement Team (CCE) facilitates a night of trivia, or story-telling, or a fun musical event for all ages. There are also opportunities for hikes and other outdoor gatherings.
These groups are currently online and hope to be opening in-person as the pandemic subsides. To learn more and obtain zoom links, call or email the church office.
